Why is relevant for adult educators and adult education centers?
Why this case study is a success / best practice?
The Czech Republic demonstrates a sustained concern for the continuing education of adults and
the large number of private initiatives dedicated to the education and improvement of adults of all
ages is remarkable. These cases show that a proper infrastructure and legislative measures works
very well. Adequate legislative support and clear national guidelines encourage quality initiatives in
the adult education sector.
In 2020, the Czech Republic adopted the Strategy for Educational Policy of the Czech Republic until
2030+.The paper covers lifetime learning and non-formal education, and it also emphasises the
advancement of adult civic education. The framework was developed taking into account emerging
trends, an ageing population, and the possible effects of the Society 4.0 phenomena. The
implementation action plans specify specific actions. "Citizens' preparedness for labour market
change, education and digital skills development" is one of the goals, and it is specifically aimed at
promoting adult learning.
