significance of educators' personal attributes, such as empathy and emotional labour, as driving
forces in maintaining teaching quality and achieving desired learning outcomes.

Second, collaborative synergies among educators became evident, addressing challenges arising
from the digital transition. Learning and practicing communities, along with the transformation of
pedagogy and teaching methodologies, were identified as key elements altering students'
            interactive learning experiences.

Third, the study underscores the necessity for a comprehensive redesign of hospitality curricula to
facilitate blended teaching and learning. This includes the development of vertical and horizontal
professional knowledge and skills, establishing a strong link between academia and the labour

market. The integration of industry professionals' input in curricula design is seen as instrumental
            in advancing employability prospects.

The study proposes a distal-proximal explanation framework, illustrating the interconnected
relationship between educators' personal dynamics, collaborative synergies, program design
modifications, and a management approach prompted by the challenges of COVID-19. This
framework aims to provide insights into the qualitative responses, decision-making processes, and
knowledge exchange mechanisms that shaped the adaptation of CHEIs to the new digital reality.

Why is relevant for adult educators and adult education centers?

Why this case study is a success / best practice? 61

The proposed knowledge management ecosystem approach, with responsiveness to stakeholders
and changing market needs, can guide adult education centers in creating adaptable and industry-
relevant learning programs. This approach encourages collaboration between academia and
industry, enhancing the overall quality of adult education. Adult educators and education centers
can gain insights into effective strategies for adapting their programs to digital formats, especially
considering the unique context of the culinary and hospitality education sector.

The study provides relevant insights and practical considerations for adult educators and adult
education centers looking to navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by the digital
transformation of education, especially in practical fields such as culinary and hospitality education.
