3. FOCUS MASTERY AND MAINTENENCE

Cases of application for the job market

Imagine that you need to illustrate your strengths in the workplace. If
focus is one of them your response could look like one of these cases:

              A.

In my previous job at a store, I was in charge of stocking the shelves. One
day, we experienced an unexpected rush of customers coming in for a big

sale. It was critical I made sure everything they wanted was on the
shelves, but I was the only one available to do it.

It was a bit crazy with so many people, but I knew I had to focus on getting

things sorted out. I made a plan to fill up the shelves with things that
people wanted the most first. I checked what we had, put things where
they should be, and made sure everything looked nice and tidy.

To keep myself focused, I took it one step at a time. I focused on one part

of the store after another, moving to the next part only after restocking
fast moving goods in the first one. I found that when I stayed organized,

prioritized and didn't let the busy store bother me, I could get things
         done faster.

That day, I learned that I’m really good
at staying focused, even when things

get crazy, which really helps me facing
challenges. It proved to myself how

much making a plan and sticking to it,
helped me do my job better and help

the customers find what they needed,
and its how I do things ever since.

                                                                                                      26
