10.SEEKING ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORT
How does it differ between the digital learning
and workplace context?
While both, digital learning and the working environment offer ways to
seek assistance and support, the methods and availability of help
usually differ:
Within digital learning you will rely more on self-directed
seeking of resources and online communication and engaging
with online community or, in some cases, on educators
supporting you in your meta-skills development. Meanwhile,
seeking support in the workplace is related to knowing when,
how and to whom reach for support and how to leverage your
team abilities to reach your objectives.
Within digital environment, you will communicate with
instructors or peers through emails, forums, or chat platforms
to address queries or seek clarification which often relates to
obtaining support with a delay, while in work settings you often
can reach out to your colleagues or managers in the real-time to
obtain support almost immediately.
Within digital environment you will need to describe well your
issue to obtain effective support, in most cases as an advice or
guidelines. In the workplace with direct interactions you can
directly show the problem in the real context, engage others
directly in performing the task you need to accomplish or ask
for presentation of the solution directly on the job post.
