11. EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION
How does it differ between the digital learning
and workplace context?
While both, digital learning and the working environment offer ways to
seek assistance and support, the methods and availability of help
usually differ:
Digital learning provides the environment of self-organization of
tasks according to your own pace while communicating and
collaborating effectively at work implies adapting to the team
pace, being flexible to the changes that might occur from one
day to another or even during the same day, so that the
teamwork continues and finally achieve set objectives.
Digital learning offers you the option to easier avoid
participation in the discussions and stay invisible when you do
not feel like contributing while being in workplace environment
implies also constant involvement in discussions with
colleagues and superiors, brainstorming together, finding
solutions to different problems, overcoming conflicts.
Digital learning provides information about how to better
communicate and collaborate with others and gives you the
chance to exercise your abilities, but in a safe environment.
When you are at work, exercising your acquired competences
seams much more difficult because a lot of much more
variables are involved that increase your effort to react: instant
feed-back, non-verbal communication, task changes, deadline
pressure.
