4. INDEPENDENT PROBLEM SOLVING
Cases of application for the job market
B.
In my last position at the production plant,
during my weekend shift our inventory
management system crashed unexpectedly,
leaving us unable to access crucial data
required for releasing purchase orders to
upcoming delivery companies.
I immediately recognised urgency of the situation, as well as the fact as I am the
most experienced employee on the floor. I began by assessing the immediate
impact and communicating the problem to my team and superiors.
Realizing that waiting for the IT department's resolution might risk missing the
delivery deadline, I independently looked for, as well as reached out to my
colleagues for suggestions to find an alternative solution. Based on my prior
experience with similar systems, I recalled a redundant backup that could
potentially contain the data we needed to prepare and release the right orders
to the delivery companies.
Whie the process was more time consuming and required involving more cable
to search and pull information from the system manually colleagues, my quick
reaction and finding the alternative solution allowed us to comply with the
orders and avoid penalties for untimely delivery, as well as ruining the weekend
of many of my colleagues and managers.
